All Different: All Equal
Together, Improving Upon Our Best

Gateway Sports - Autumn Highlights

As we wrap up the first term of the academic year, we are thrilled to share the outstanding achievements and high participation levels in Gateway’s sports program. This term has seen students across all year groups showcase their talent, determination, and team spirit in a variety of sports, making it one of the most successful starts to the year we’ve ever had!

Netball Success: District Dominance and County Campaigns

Netball at Gateway has reached new heights this term, with all district teams remaining unbeaten in their matches so far. The players have shown exceptional teamwork and skill, delivering impressive results and making the school proud. In county-level competitions, all of our netball teams are still in the running, demonstrating their ability to compete against some of the best teams in the region. This combination of district and county success speaks volumes about the dedication and talent of our players and coaching staff.

Rugby Triumphs: Essex Festival Achievements

Our rugby teams have also enjoyed a stellar start to the season. Notably, the U13 boys showcased their skills and resilience by finishing as runners-up in their Essex Festival. The competition was of an incredibly high standard, and the boys rose to the occasion, proving their mettle against tough opponents. Across all year groups, Gateway rugby players have made a strong impression in Essex Festivals, showing that the future of rugby at Gateway is exceptionally bright.

Basketball Brilliance: Essex Cup Campaigns

Basketball has been a highlight this term, with both boys’ and girls’ teams making waves in the Essex Cup. The U13 and U14 boys are unbeaten, achieving some remarkable victories that reflect their hard work and commitment. The U13 girls are also making their mark and remain strong contenders for qualification, with just two games left in their campaign. It’s been an exciting journey so far, and we can’t wait to see how far these teams will go in the competition.

Football Highlights: Strong Competition and Progress

Our football teams have also started the season on a strong note, with several impressive performances across different age groups. The U14 girls have particularly shone, qualifying for the third round of the Essex Cup. They will face their next challenge in January, and we’re confident they will continue to make Gateway proud.

Cross Country: Medal-Winning Runs and Top Finishes

This term’s cross-country events brought out the best in our athletes, with some truly outstanding individual performances. Allie from Year 7 secured a silver medal, Macie in Year 10 also achieved a silver medal, and Dominykas in Year 11 won a gold medal in their respective competitions. In addition to these podium finishes, we saw many of our students place in the top ten, showcasing their endurance and competitive spirit. Huge congratulations to all our runners for their fantastic efforts.

EAP Relaunch: Supporting Elite Athletes

This term saw the relaunch of our Elite Athlete Programme (EAP), designed to nurture and support the school’s most talented sportspeople. We’re excited to announce that over 60 students are currently participating in the program, benefitting from specialised coaching and resources to help them reach their full potential. The enthusiasm and commitment shown by these young athletes are truly inspiring.

A Fantastic Start to the Year

Term 1 has been nothing short of phenomenal for Gateway sports. From netball to rugby, basketball to football, and the relaunch of our EAP, the dedication and achievements of our students have set a high standard for the rest of the academic year. We’re incredibly proud of all our athletes, and we look forward to even more success as we head into the next term.

Thank you to all the students, coaches, and parents who have supported Gateway sports this term. Let’s keep the momentum going!
