Wellbeing at The Gateway Academy
The Gateway Academy Wellbeing Vision Statement
Our vision is for all our students, staff and community to have the support they need to build lifelong coping skills and thrive. We believe having an emotionally, physically and mentally healthy community is about working together through the challenges and sharing the celebrations; feeling supported, heard, accepted, valued and empowered. We will strive to create a positive culture where every student and member of staff feels a sense of belonging, employing a whole school approach, in providing excellent mental health support, understanding and intervention.
We will put wellbeing at the heart of our school to ensure successful learning, and commit to our policies reflecting this practice. We recognise that children and young adults' mental health is a crucial factor in their overall wellbeing and can affect their learning and achievement. To this end, we strive to increase understanding of the different types of emotional and mental health needs across the school and have systems in place to respond appropriately.
