All Different: All Equal
Together, Improving Upon Our Best

Reading Curriculum

At the Gateway Academy, we aim for our students to have access to a wide range of diverse, interesting and challenging texts throughout our curriculum. In Year 7 to 9, all pupils will have one hour a week which is focused purely on reading a class novel and developing reading skills. This is in addition to the wide range of texts which our students study in their English Curriculum.

Below is a list of the texts which all our pupils will study in each year group. As a parent, you will receive regular updates on what your child is reading in school which will allow you to discuss reading at home.

Chane- In Year 7 to 9, all students will have one hour a week which is focused purely on reading a class novel and developing reading skills.  In Year 7 and 8, all students will have one hour a week which is focused purely on reading a class novel and developing reading skills.
